Big Ten Tournament: The Analysis
The preseason favorites for the Big Ten regular-season title were Michigan Wolverines, who ended up eighth in the standings. Wisconsin, who went 15-5 in conference play, lifted their second regular-season title in three years.
The current bracketology does not predict any Big Ten member getting a No. 1 seed come Selection Sunday, but Wisconsin, Purdue and Illinois should all earn at least a No. 4 seed.
While Wisconsin and Illinois finished atop the conference, the Iowa Hawkeyes led the Big Ten in scoring, despite losing Big Ten leading scorer Luka Garza. The Rutgers Scarlet Knights boast the conference’s top defense, so they’re one to look out for.
Despite entering as the No.3 seed, Purdue are the favorites to lift the Big Ten trophy. They may have to face Rutgers, who at +1500 could be worth a play.

Big Ten Tournament History
The Big Ten tournament began in 1998, with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Big Ten was one of the last NCAA Division I college basketball conferences to start a tournament.
Based in the midwest, the tournament has been hosted primarily in Chicago, Illinois. In years gone by, the tournament has flipped between Indianapolis and Chicago, and will be held in Indy this year.
Michigan State holds the most Big Ten championship titles, with six. Their most recent win was in 2019, where they defeated rivals Michigan. The Wolverines themselves have won two Big Ten championships, while also losing twice in the final to the Spartans.
Three teams have never won the Big Ten, with Rutgers, Maryland, and Nebraska yet to lift the trophy. None of these teams have made it to the championship game, a fact Rutgers will want to change this year.
